St. Paul City School is a charter school serving grades PreK - 8. Charter schools are publicly-funded (there is no tuition), non-sectarian and cannot discriminate in admissions. It also means that the district cannot simply assign students to us; everyone who attends St. Paul City School is here by choice.

Minnesota was a leader in the charter school movement and St. Paul City School is one of more than 70 charter schools now operating in the state. You can read more about charter schools on the web. And while the school started as New Spirit School and was formed in part to provide an excellent education to a low-income and racially mixed area of St. Paul, the school is open to anyone and standard basedcurriculum is attractive no matter what your background.
